Who We Are
Cybertroniz Youth Association
CybertroniZ Youth Association is a Calgary based nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young people through science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). We believe every youth deserves the chance to explore their potential, develop critical skills, and grow as leaders in their communities.
Our journey began with the award-winning FIRST® LEGO League team, CheezdEms, and the FIRST® Tech Challenge team, Cybertronic PenguinZ. Through these programs, we’ve seen how robotics inspires creativity, builds confidence, and develops collaboration.
Looking ahead, CybertroniZ is building a hub where even more students can access hands-on learning, mentorship, workshops, and outreach opportunities. FIRST® programs remain at the heart of this vision, serving as a powerful platform for students to innovate, problem-solve, and connect with a global community of young changemakers.
Our mission is simple: to inspire youth, expand opportunities, and prepare tomorrow’s innovators and leaders.

What We Offer
Robotics Workshop for Kids
Are your kids curious about robots, coding, and creative problem-solving? Our local nonprofit is thrilled to offer hands-on robotics workshops designed for young innovators who want to explore the exciting world of FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC)!
What is FIRST
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology)
is a global nonprofit organization that empowers young people to become science and technology leaders. Through hands-on robotics programs, FIRST fosters innovation, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving skills. Its mission is to inspire students to pursue STEM careers by engaging them in mentor-based programs that build confidence, leadership, and technical expertise

FLL Explore (Grades 2–4, Ages 6–10)
Focuses on early STEM exploration through real-world challenges. Teams of up to 6 students research a scientific topic (e.g., recycling, energy). They create a Show-Me poster and build a motorized LEGO model to present their findings. Emphasizes teamwork, creativity, and core values like respect and sharing

FLL Challenge (Grades 4–8, Ages 9–16)
Introduces friendly competition through robotics and research. Teams build and program a LEGO SPIKE Prime robot to complete missions on a game board. They also conduct a research project to solve a real-world problem. Encourages coding, engineering, and presentation skills

FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC)
Designed for students in Grades 7–12. Teams (up to 15 members) design, build, and program robots within an 18″ cube. Robots compete in a 2v2 format on a field with specific game objectives. Students use Java or block programming, maintain an engineering notebook, and engage in fundraising and outreach.FTC is a more affordable alternative to FRC, offering deep technical and strategic challenges
